Nick is a senior at St. Mary’s High School, and since they don’t have a yearbook deadline he chose wait until winter to shoot his senior portraits. We visited the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and Colorado College, and although it was a little blustery it was a great day to shoot. Nick is a defensive lineman on the varsity squad at St. Mary’s, and is looking forward to college next year where he will major in mechanical engineering.

Our latest senior, Justin, is an accomplished pianist, awesome student, and aspiring engineer. First we visited Piano Warehouse in downtown Colorado Springs. Not only is it a great location in which to shoot senior portraits, we were also treated to a mini-concert as Justin performed pieces by Mozart and other composers. Next we ventured over to North Cheyenne Cañon Park park for some outdoor shots. Picking the right locations is essential to bringing out individuality and capturing great images. Below are some of our faves from the session.

We shot Ashley’s senior portraits last fall in Manitou Springs. Well, an entire school year has gone by and Ashley is a new graduate. We visited the Cordera Community Center which provided an excellent backdrop for these photos. All our senior portrait packages come with a cap & gown mini session, so we got together and shot some frames with Ashley sporting her school colors and diploma. These photos are a great companion to your senior portraits, and a great way to remember your last days of high school.

We had a great time with Christina’s senior portrait shoot this week at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs. The colors in the trees were just fantastic and she wanted to be near the water which provided a great backdrop (and reflections). We really enjoyed her awesome personality and were glad that we were able to capture some of it in her senior portraits. Fall color, water, mountains, and a fun-loving senior made for a great shoot.

Steps for getting awesome senior portraits in Colorado Springs: 1) Find an amazing location in Colorado Springs like Red Rock Canyon Open Space – check. 2) Bring along adventure gear including rope, harnesses, carabiners, and quickdraws – check. 3) Capture photos of a senior doing what he loves – check. Jacob and his dad met me this week for a late-afternoon senior rock climbing photo shoot. Red Rock Canyon is an old quarry that has been converted into an awesome park, great for rock climbing. I scrambled up to various perches along the rock face to try to get some good angles as Jacob displayed his expert technical climbing skills. We definitely had a great time getting these shots.
